Complex Database Migrations

Move Critical Databases to New Platforms With Confidence

For enterprises moving critical workloads between database engines or into the cloud, we plan and run the migration end to end. That covers Oracle to PostgreSQL, SQL Server to Azure SQL, DB2 to SQL Server, and on-premises to managed cloud services.

What We Deliver

Where We Make the Difference

A database migration touches schema, stored code, application queries, and the people who depend on all of them. Most failures come from surprises found too late. We surface them early, convert and test in iterations, and cut over only when the data, the application, and the performance all check out.

01

Cross-Platform Conversion

We translate schemas, PL/SQL and T-SQL procedures, triggers, and custom types between engines, then fix the application SQL that depends on them so the new platform behaves as expected.

02

Proven Data Integrity

Row counts, checksums, and business-rule checks run before and after every load, so you can show auditors and business owners that each table arrived complete and correct.

03

Short Cutover Windows

Continuous replication with AWS DMS or Oracle GoldenGate keeps the target in sync while you test, which shrinks the final switch to a planned, rehearsed window.

04

Performance Parity Checks

We capture baselines on the source system and replay representative workloads on the target, so slow queries are found and fixed before go-live instead of after it.

Our Approach

How We Deliver Complex Database Migrations

  1. Step 1: Map What You Have

We inventory objects, stored code, data volumes, and every application that connects, then rank the risks and estimate effort before any tooling decision is made.

  2. Step 2: Choose the Path and Tools

We pick the migration pattern and tooling, such as AWS DMS, Azure Database Migration Service, or ora2pg, to fit the engines involved and your downtime tolerance.

  3. Step 3: Convert and Rehearse

Schema and code conversion run in iterations with application testing each round, and we rehearse the full cutover in a lower environment before production.

  4. Step 4: Cut Over With a Way Back

The production move follows a written runbook with live monitoring and a tested rollback, and our team stays close through the stabilization period that follows.

FAQ

Common Questions

Something we did not cover? Ask us directly.

How much downtime should we plan for?

It depends on data volume, the engines involved, and how much the data changes during the move. With continuous replication, many migrations need only a short planned window for the final switch. We give you a realistic estimate after the assessment, not before.

Will our applications need to change?

Usually some will. Moving between engines often means rewriting embedded SQL, driver settings, and code that relies on vendor-specific features. The assessment shows exactly which applications are affected and by how much.

What happens if the cutover goes wrong?

Every migration has a rollback plan that is tested during rehearsal. If validation fails during cutover, we return to the source system using the agreed procedure and fix the issue before trying again.

Can you migrate us to a managed cloud database?

Yes. We migrate to Amazon Aurora, Amazon RDS, Azure SQL Database, and Google Cloud SQL, and we flag any features the managed service does not support before you commit.
