Application Development

Application Modernization

Modernize Legacy Applications Without Betting the Business

Legacy applications still run critical parts of most businesses, but outdated frameworks and monolithic designs slow every change. We modernize them in stages, through containerization, service decomposition, database moves, and new APIs, while protecting the business logic you depend on.

What We Deliver

Where We Make the Difference

Big-bang rewrites often stall and lose features nobody documented. We take an incremental path instead: assess the whole portfolio, choose the right strategy for each application, and retire legacy components one at a time, so the business keeps running and gains something at every stage.

01

Incremental Replacement

Using the strangler fig pattern, new services take over one capability at a time while the legacy system keeps running, so traffic shifts gradually and every step can be rolled back.

02

Containers Without a Rewrite

We package existing applications in Docker and run them on AKS, EKS, or GKE, gaining consistent deployments and elastic scaling before any code is restructured.

03

Databases on Managed Services

Oracle, DB2, and aging SQL Server databases move to managed cloud services such as Azure SQL, Amazon RDS, or Cloud SQL, which can reduce maintenance work and license exposure.

04

New APIs on Old Systems

We wrap legacy functionality in modern REST APIs so mobile apps, portals, and new services can use it today, without waiting for the core system to be replaced.

Our Approach

How We Deliver Application Modernization

  1. Step 1: Score the Portfolio

Each application is rated on technical debt, business criticality, cost of ownership, and strategic fit, so modernization effort goes where it returns the most.

  2. Step 2: Choose a Path per Application

Rehost, replatform, refactor, rebuild, or retire: we pick the strategy for each application and sequence the roadmap to balance risk against business value.

  3. Step 3: Modernize in Safe Steps

Work proceeds in increments, and each one is validated for functional parity and performance before the next begins, so problems surface while they are still small.

  4. Step 4: Switch Off the Old

As replacements prove themselves in production, we decommission legacy components, clean up infrastructure, and remove the maintenance burden they carried.

FAQ

Common Questions

Something we did not cover? Ask us directly.

Do we have to rewrite our applications?

Rarely. Many applications gain most of the benefit from rehosting, containerizing, or replatforming. We reserve rewrites for the pieces where the existing code truly blocks the business.

How do you protect business logic nobody documented?

We capture current behavior with characterization tests before changing anything, then verify each modernized component against them. That way, rules nobody wrote down still get checked.

How is this different from your .NET modernization service?

This service covers mixed portfolios across languages, databases, and platforms. If your estate is mostly .NET Framework, our dedicated .NET modernization service goes deeper into framework upgrades and Azure hosting.

Can the legacy system keep running during modernization?

Yes. The incremental approach is built around running old and new side by side, shifting traffic gradually, and keeping a rollback option at each step.
