Database Monitoring

See Problems Coming Before Your Users Do

This service sets up database monitoring that your own operations team can run. We select and configure the tooling, build baselines, tune alerts, and deliver dashboards covering health, performance, and capacity across every platform you operate.

What We Deliver

Where We Make the Difference

Many teams have monitoring that either misses real problems or buries them under noisy alerts. Neither helps when something breaks. We instrument the metrics that actually predict trouble, set thresholds from your own baselines, and route alerts to the right people with enough context to act.

01

The Metrics That Matter

We track query latency, waits, blocking, buffer usage, I/O saturation, replication lag, and backup status, the signals that predict trouble rather than just describe it.

02

Alerts Worth Answering

Thresholds come from your own historical baselines, and each alert carries context and a runbook link, so on-call staff respond to real problems instead of noise.

03

Capacity Trend Warnings

Growth in storage, connections, and compute is forecast forward, giving you enough lead time to plan a fix instead of scrambling when a limit is reached.

04

Dashboards for Each Audience

Leaders see availability summaries, DBAs see operational detail, and incident responders get drill-down views that lead from a symptom straight to the query behind it.

Our Approach

How We Deliver Database Monitoring

  1. Step 1: Choose the Right Tooling

We review your databases, existing tools, and team, then recommend a platform such as SolarWinds DPA, SQL Sentry, Datadog, or Percona PMM, or extend what you have.

  2. Step 2: Instrument and Baseline

We deploy collectors across the estate, set sensible collection intervals, and capture normal behavior for each database so alerts have a real reference point.

  3. Step 3: Tune Alerts and Routing

We define alert policies by database and metric, remove false positives, and connect escalation paths to your existing on-call and ticketing tools.

  4. Step 4: Hand Over to Your Team

We deliver dashboards and runbooks, train your DBAs and operators to use them, and set up a regular review so monitoring keeps pace with change.

FAQ

Common Questions

Something we did not cover? Ask us directly.

Can you work with the monitoring tools we already have?

Yes. Often the fastest improvement is tuning the tool you already license rather than replacing it. We recommend a new platform only when the current one cannot see what you need.

Who watches the alerts after the project ends?

Your team does. This service builds monitoring for your own staff to run. If you would rather have us watch and respond, that is our Remote DBA service.

How do you cut down on false alarms?

We set thresholds from each database's own normal behavior rather than generic defaults, and group related alerts together. We also review alert history with your team and retire the alerts nobody acts on.
