Oracle Essbase Consulting

Faster Cubes and Planning Models Finance Teams Trust

Oracle Essbase sits at the center of budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting for many finance teams. Our consultants design, tune, and migrate Essbase cubes and planning applications on premises, on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and in Oracle EPM Cloud.

What We Deliver

Where We Make the Difference

Over time, Essbase applications collect extra dimensions, slow calc scripts, and load processes only one person understands. We work with finance and IT together to streamline outlines, speed up calculations, and document how each application works so it no longer depends on memory.

01

Cube and Outline Design

We choose block storage, aggregate storage, or hybrid mode for each cube, set sparse and dense dimensions carefully, and shape hierarchies around how finance actually reports.

02

Calc Script Performance

We rewrite slow calc scripts and business rules, use FIX statements and parallel calculation wisely, and remove redundant aggregations so close and forecast runs finish on schedule.

03

Planning Applications

We build budgeting and forecasting models in Oracle EPM Cloud Planning or directly on Essbase, including data forms, business rules, and security that match your planning cycle.

04

Migration to Oracle Cloud

We move on-premises Essbase to Essbase on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure or to EPM Cloud, rebuilding load rules, automation, and Smart View connections along the way.

Our Approach

How We Deliver Oracle Essbase Consulting

  1. Step 1: Review the Applications

We examine outlines, calc scripts, load rules, and automation, and talk with finance users about where reporting or calculations slow them down.

  2. Step 2: Redesign Where It Counts

We agree on changes with finance owners, then restructure dimensions, storage settings, and calculations in a development copy of the application.

  3. Step 3: Test With Real Periods

We run full calculations and reports against production data volumes and past periods, comparing results line by line before anything goes live.

  4. Step 4: Train and Support

We document the application, train administrators on MaxL automation and outline changes, and support finance through close and planning cycles.

FAQ

Common Questions

Something we did not cover? Ask us directly.

Should we use block storage or aggregate storage?

Block storage suits planning models that need write-back and complex allocations. Aggregate storage handles large, sparse reporting cubes with fast rollups. Hybrid mode blends the two, and we test which fits each cube.

Our month-end calculations take too long. Where do you start?

With the calc scripts and the outline, since dense and sparse settings and unnecessary aggregations cause most slowdowns. We measure each change against the original run so the gains are clear.

Do we have to move Essbase to the cloud?

No. On-premises Essbase remains an option, and we outline the support timeline and costs of each path. Moving makes sense when it simplifies infrastructure or pairs with a planning upgrade.
