“SAP S/4HANA Cloud represents a comprehensive enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution, incorporating integrated smart technologies such as AI, machine learning, and sophisticated analytics.

There are three distinct offerings of SAP S/4HANA: private and public cloud editions, and On-Premise:

  • The Private Edition of SAP S/4HANA Cloud is hosted on a secure, private network shielded by a firewall and managed by SAP. It operates in a single-tenant setting, ensuring maximal security.
  • In the Public Edition, also known as the Essential Edition, the services are hosted on publicly accessible networks like AWS, Azure, and GCP. While SAP oversees the software, it is delivered on a subscription basis to the end user.
  • “SAP S/4 HANA On-Premise is designed to operate on the servers within your organization, with management overseen by your internal IT staff. This version necessitates a Perpetual License, which includes a one-off licensing cost and an ongoing fee for support services.”

For these versions, either a Subscription or Consumption License is necessary. A Subscription License involves a set term (typically 3 to 5 years) with an annual fee. Conversely, a Consumption License also has a fixed term but is billed based on actual usage, with no annual fee commitment.”
